Palo Alto/Praha, 24. července 2012 – Společnost VMware, Inc. (NYSE: VMW), globální lídr v oblasti virtualizačních řešení a cloudové infrastruktury, včera oznámila, že podepsala konečnou smlouvu o akvizici společnosti Nicira, Inc. Ta je průkopníkem v oblasti softwarově definovaných sítí (software-defined networking, SDN) a jedničkou na trhu síťové virtualizace pro open source iniciativy. (TZ)
„VMware vedl revoluci virtualizací serverů a máme možnost udělat totéž v oblasti datových center a cloudových sítí,“ řekl Paul Maritz, generální ředitel společnosti VMware. „Akvizice firmy Nicira zapadá do našeho portfolia síťových aktivit a VMware se díky ní stává lídrem v oblasti softwarově definovaných sítí.“
VMware získá společnost Nicira za 1,05 miliardy dolarů v hotovosti a přibližně 210 milionů dolarů vyplacených v rámci převzatého opčního programu. Akvizice podléhá schválení regulačními úřady a dalším obvyklým procedurám. Obě strany očekávají, že akvizice bude dokončena během druhé poloviny roku 2012. Akvizice byla schválena představenstvy společností VMware i Nicira a akcionáři společnosti Nicira.

Cloud computing is about agile, elastic, efficient, and reliable services, and it is achieved through sophisticated software that abstracts hardware resources, pools it into aggregate capacity, enabling automation to safely and efficiently dole it out as needed for applications.
