Crimea Crisis and Slow Economic Recovery Pull Down Printers Sales in CEE

Prague, August 28, 2014 – In the second quarter of this year, the hardcopy peripherals (HCP) market in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) declined almost 19% year on year in volume terms to 1.37 million units, while shipment value declined more than 13% to $383 million. In Q2, the CEE market was negatively affected by continuing slow economic recovery of many countries, as well as geopolitical tensions relating to events in Ukraine. HCP shipments to Ukraine dropped more than 60% from the same quarter in 2012, and those to Russia fell almost 15%. Poland and the Czech Republic were two other countries to record double-digit volume declines year on year.
