PRAGUE / FRAMINGHAM, Mass., June 6, 2016 – Worldwide tablet shipments are expected to decline for the second straight year in 2016, dropping 9.6% compared to 2015 volumes, according to a new International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Tablet Tracker forecast. The tablet market in totality has seen its peak and will face down years in 2016 and 2017, followed by a slight rebound in 2018 and beyond driven by detachable tablet growth. Right now the detachable category only accounts for 16% of the market and IDC expects it to reach 31% in 2020. (TZ)

Worldwide WLAN Market Shows Steady Growth in the First Quarter of 2016, According to IDC

PRAGUE / FRAMINGHAM, Mass., June 3, 2016 – The combined consumer and enterprise worldwide wireless local area network (WLAN) market segments increased 4.5% year over year in the first quarter of 2016 (1Q16), while declining 10.7% on a sequential basis. According to the results published in the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly WLAN Tracker , the enterprise segment grew 8.6% year over year in 1Q16, experiencing its best growth in more than a year. A number of factors contributed to this uptick, including refresh cycles, easing of economic concerns, greater availability of Wave 2 802.11ac products, and continued fulfillment of e-rate contracts in the education vertical in the United States. Convertible and Detachable Devices Winning Over Consumers in Western Europe

PRAGUE / LONDON, May 27, 2016 – According to the latest figures published by International Data Corporation (IDC), Western European shipments of ultraslim convertibles and detachables posted positive growth (44.7%) to account for 18.4% of total consumer shipments and 21.9% of commercial devices in 16Q1, up from 9.2% and 16.3% respectively a year ago. This trend is even more significant in the context of a contracting market. The Western European PC and tablet market contracted by 13.7% YoY in 16Q1, with total shipments reaching 18.2 million units. The decline was softer in the commercial segment, where the drop in shipments remained in single digits (-5.2% YoY), while consumer demand fell by 18.6% YoY. (TZ)

Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa External Storage Market Records First Decline in Six Years in 2015

PRAGUE, May 20, 2016 – Although one of the fastest developing regional markets until 2015, the Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEMA) external storage market declined by 10% year on year in 2015. Total shipment value dropped below $2 billion, while total market capacity grew by 27%, according to results published by International Data Corporation (IDC) in its Enterprise Storage Systems Quarterly Tracker for Q4 2015. Shipments were in line with conservative expectations for a decline of 11.3%, and anticipated a relatively weak environment during the first half of 2016 as Windows 10 enterprise upgrades largely remained in pilot phase while consumer demand remains weak.
